Many old timers and racers use Type-F in their Chevys, no problems. I drained the Dextron form it and refilled it with type-F fluid to start off. Drove that trans until I did my AWD recently, used the trans that came with the transfer case. It felt like a new trans with a shift kit and you couldn't tell the 2nd gear change was compromised. I thought I had nothing to lose, and I'd heard about many doing this on Chevy trannies. The tranny shop told me it was on it's way out and they could do nothing. When I bought my truck 6 years ago the 2nd gear shift flared.
